The India I knew
Where we grew up
Just knowing we were Indians
When I celebrated Holi, Diwali, Christmas n Eid
With the same excitement n joy
I never remembered what my religion was
Just that I’m an Indian
And my home was India
Today when I see the sad face of Riots
N people judging u from your face about your religion
It’s all in a name today
As I see slowly things getting burned
Is it the same India I grew up in
Today I see turmoil , chaos
The fabric of peace being ripped apart
Shredded
Ashes strewn around
It has all come down to a name
Yet we were always taught what’s in a name
What is in your heart is more important
But today what is in their heart
Is only seen
By what’s in a name-
Where we grew up
Just knowing we were Indians
When I celebrated Holi, Diwali, Christmas n Eid
With the same excitement n joy
I never remembered what my religion was
Just that I’m an Indian
And my home was India
Today when I see the sad face of Riots
N people judging u from your face about your religion
It’s all in a name today
As I see slowly things getting burned
Is it the same India I grew up in
